GRAND CANYON

Travel
WOW. What a view. I visited one of the many wonders of the worlds whilst I was in Las Vegas. We took another long, long drive up the North Rim and headed to the Grand Canyon. It’s one of those must see things in life and we had to do it.

We took the longest route there because my boyfriend’s Dad had been the other routes before and heard it was an amazing drive on this one. And it was. We drove through quaint American towns and right up into the mountains through the vast trees, some of which had been burned down in a forest fire. Now that was interesting to see the results a forest fire can do; miles and miles of white trees with nothing there. It looked like a film.
The drive took about 4-5 hours and when we reached the entrance of the National Park we still had a bit further to go. When we arrived and parked up we still couldn’t really see the canyon properly, so we all said not to look anywhere but straight ahead until we got to the perfect viewing point.
It was so cute where we parked up. It was like a little travellers town with lots of log cabins for people to stay. I think I’d like to do that one day. Stay high up on the canyon with nothing around you for miles, away from everything. It’s nice to escape sometimes.
When we reached the viewing point we all just stopped talking. I don’t think we could take it all in. It didn’t even look real. All you could see in the very far distance was more of the canyon. So many huge rocks. I didn’t think I would find it scary but I did. I’m usually fine with heights but it felt rather unsafe walking on the rocks. They had made a pathway for tourists and some of the rocks had railings on them but there were others that didn’t. I felt very nervous climbing some of the rocks because there wasn’t just a mile drop one side of you. There was a mile drop all around you. I preferred crawling – honestly I crawled and looked like a little crab!
People say you have to be there, and you do. You won’t get a feel for how vast it is from my photos. You’ll never see anything like it.
