My Instagram is my strongest social media channel. It’s grown so much in 2016 which is amazing and that’s all down to you guys. So I just want to say thank you! If it wasn’t for you all enjoying the content I’ve been creating then I wouldn’t have been able to quit my job and do something I love full time.
I thought I’d share a few of my tips on how to grow Instagram followers. I always get my friends and fellow Bloggers ask me how I do it. I don’t really know how, it’s just luck of getting regrammed by big brands, and that’s all down to timings of when your photo goes live and I guess opinions as to whether they like it or not.
HASHTAGS
Hashtags is a great way to push your content out to the right people. Theme your hashtags around your photo, don’t just add in random ones because the people searching for those tags won’t be interested. Try to limit yourself to around 10 hashtags as otherwise it can look a little desperate. Or if you want to add lots of hashtags, do it as a separate comment and then delete that comment after a week or so; so many more images will be on top of yours in that hashtag search that yours will just be lost anyway. Also try not to put too many generic ones in there like #fashion or #beauty. Obviously put them in, but these are used thousands of times a day so your photo will move down in that search feed very quickly. Try putting something like #sequinkimono or #glittermakeup; something that people still search for but slightly less.
TAG BRANDS
Regardless of whether you think a brand will regram you or not, make sure you always tag brands in your images. Tag what you’re wearing, tag what beauty products you’ve used to create a makeup look. These brands might see your snap and regram you. This is one way I’ve grown my following as then the brand credits you and all of their following discovers your feed.
CONSISTENCY
Consistency is key. Don’t post 3 times one day and then not again for 4 days. The more you’re posting, the more chance you have of getting your content and feed out there. I try and post 2/3 times a day every day without fail. I don’t think I’ve ever missed a day at all since I started using Instagram for my blog. My followers are guaranteed new content daily.
YOUR FEED
Consistency also continues to your feed. If people can see you have a strong theme and look on your feed, I feel like they’re more likely to follow you. If you’re just posting random photos that don’t really link and you don’t really have an objective then people will get confused and uninterested. For example with my Instagram everyone knows what to expect: blue hair, hair tutorials, glitter makeup and quirky outfits. I know what works for my feed and I take pride in it’s appearance. It might sound silly but when you work hard for something and you put a lot of effort into your work you want it to look good.
These are all little things that overtime can help grow Instagram followers. Although some might say it doesn’t matter how many followers you have and this is also true. I was working with brands and producing content when I was on 10K followers and still enjoying Blogging. Obviously the more followers you have the more likely you are to be able to go full time and collaborate with well known brands.
