If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen I travelled to Berlin for a little city break recently with my boyfriend! We hadn’t been away together all summer and so we thought we’d book a city break to a place we both wanted to visit… Berlin! I had heard such good things about the city before and so many people said I would love it, so we had to give it a go!
My boyfriend and I are big foodies, so whilst planning what we wanted to do in Berlin, we had a little look on Trip Advisor at the top restaurants to try. We managed to visit a few, but we also stumbled across some goodens too, so I thought I’d share a mini review of each restaurant we ate at.
REVOLVER BURGER
I’m a sucker for burger and chips and Berlin had a lot of burger places to offer. On our first day in Berlin we headed to Mitte to stroll around before checking into our apartment. We got so hungry all at once and wanted to sit down and we came across this cool looking burger place. Reasonably priced, the burgers and chips were delicious! I’d definitely recommend sharing chips because you get given a big portion!

FREISCHWIMMER
This cute riverside restaurant was just a 5 minute walk from our apartment off of Schleisische Straße. It’s the main road that most of the famous Berlin clubs are located. Our Air BnB owner recommended this place to us and we’re so glad she did. The menu was very unique, lots of interesting and different foods. I ended up choosing halloumi and vegetables and my boyfriend opted for chicken with black spaghetti. YES, black spaghetti! We were amazed! Oh and their olive tapenade was delicious! A very pleasant evening eating by the river.

ALDEMIR EIS
Everyone fancies something sweet after their dinner don’t they? There’s some amazing dessert bars in Berlin and this particular one was a short walk from our apartment. We were on the hunt for waffles but stumbled across this amazing ice cream shop where you could literally have any combination you wanted. They even had cucumber and gorgonzola ice cream! I wasn’t feeling adventurous though so just stuck to vanilla, white chocolate and dark chocolate! A very tasty dessert!

TV TOWER
Now we didn’t eat here, we just had a cocktail but they were do delicious I have to tell you about it. The TV Tower is in Mitte, Berlin and is a tall thin golf ball like building which you can go up to the top and see the whole of Berlin from. It’s a little like the Stratosphere in Vegas. There is actually a restaurant on the floor above the bar where you can eat, but it gets booked up fairly quickly. We booked tickets in advance to head up the TV Tower and it’s nice because the bar is accessible to everyone. We managed to get a seat and I went for a peach bellini and my boyfriend a whiskey sour. It was lovely sipping on a cocktail and admiring the views of the city.

WHITE TRASH FAST FOOD
Now this is a very, very cool restaurant. You enter via an old bus which leads into a cool yard area with outdoor seating and cute lights. There’s also a cool interior in their indoor restaurant where you can also find a tattoo parlour! So whilst you have a beer you can wait for a new tattoo! We enquired about the tattoos but they started from 60 euros and we only wanted a very small symbol so we decided it wasn’t worth it. But the artists work looked very good though, so if you head to Berlin and want one I’d definitely take a look.
We ordered ribs, onion rings and curry wurst for our mains and even treated ourselves to frozen strawberry daiquiri! Very affordable and tasty food if you like american diner style burgers and ribs.

L’OSTERIA
We spent all day hanging around Tiergarten on our last full day in Berlin as we visited the Zoo and their famous department store KaDeWe. As it was a 40 minute journey back to our apartment, we didn’t bother heading back to get changed and decided to eat around the Tiergarten area instead. There’s a really chic shopping centre called Bikini Berlin and this restaurant called L’Osteria was right outside of it. It was a classic pizza and pasta restaurant so we knew we’d find something on the menu we liked. I can’t eat tomatoes due to having an IBS issue, so whenever I order pizza I always ask for no sauce, it’s actually rather delicious! The pizzas were huge, cooked fresh and were very tasty.

BURGERMEISTER
Now this is a fast food burger place that everyone raves about in Berlin. It’s situated just off of Schleisische Straße, very close to our apartment. On our last day in Berlin we strolled around our area checking out cute little shops and then we ate hear before we headed to the airport. There was a bit of a queue, but well worth the wait! Best cheesy chips ever by the way! The sauce was too delicious! Really cheap meal, came to around 15-20 euros for 2 burgers, 2 chips and 2 drinks. Even though it was fast food you could tell the burgers were made with proper meat.

Peace
