DRESSING FOR CHRISTMAS PARTIES

The Christmas parties are in full swing and I’ve been spotting some fabulous party wear on Instagram; which got me thinking about party wear essentials. It’s not just about the dress; accessories make an outfit. When we’re buying a new party dress, we’re also on the look out for new accessories to finish off the look.

For me, I can’t dress for a Christmas party without some sort of sparkly dress. Whether it be metallic or sequin, I need a dress that’ll having me sparkling the night away. Once you’ve got the perfect dress, it doesn’t stop there. You need to find a pair of killer heels. I like to go all out for the party season, so I also try and find a pair of statement heels. These particular ones are from Prettylittlething and I love the style. They’re not too high so they’re not going to kill your feet by the end of the night; and they feature an all over shiny, metallic effect which makes for the perfect party shoe.

Dress and shoes sorted, you’re nearly there! Jewellery… This is an important one as this can make or break an outfit. I find there are a few rules when wearing jewellery with a party outfit. If your dress features a busy neckline eg. cut out, high neck for example, then opt for dangly earrings and leave the necklace out. However, if your dress is bandeau for example, opt for a choker necklace and small studs. Because this particular dress has a high neck, I paired some glittery, statement earrings with the look; and as you can see they were the perfect match.

Now you’re nearly there with your Christmas party look; the last thing to remember is a coat. I sometimes forget this one and then end up heading out braving the cold. Every party outfit needs a bit of warmth, especially now the cold winter nights are setting in. Faux fur is a great option for outerwear as it adds a touch of glamour to an outfit and also keeps you ridiculously warm.
