LA WITH NYX COSMETICS - Sophie Hannah

I recently got back from an amazing trip to LA courtesy of NYX Cosmetics. I was SO excited when I got the call that NYX wanted to fly me out there as I had fallen in love with LA after visiting for the first time summer of 2015. The reason why NYX wanted me to go out there was because they picked me to be one of their influencers for their store campaigns next year.

The shoot was spread out over 3 days; the first was creating video tutorials at the NYX head office and the next 2 days were based at Milk Studios, shooting for print purposes. It was such a fab 3 days as we were allowed to create our own looks along specific themes. We were given creative freedom which I think is great for a brand to offer that to a blogger; especially on set for their own shoots. All of the content created will be launching sometime next year around April. So keep your eyes peeled!

Because I fell so in love with LA the first time, I asked NYX if I was able to extend my stay as I wanted to explore more and they very kindly allowed me to; so I had an extra 3 days to myself, which was great!

The shoot days only lasted until late afternoon so the UK NYX girl and I spent the afternoons together in LA. One day we visited the instafamous Sprinkles ATM machine and Rodeo Drive; another we popped to Melrose Avenue and the other The Grove LA. It was amazing to see more parts of LA compared to my first trip, as I never really realised how huge it is.

The NYX UK girl left on the Thursday night of my trip, so I had Friday, Saturday and Sunday to make plans. I met up with bloggers who I had been following for a while but had never met as we lived in completely different countries, shopped, shot with a photographer, got a tattoo and ate yummy food. After being there for 6 days I started to get a feeling for where everything was. I stayed in West Hollywood at the Mondrian Hotel and it was a great location. Lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel so if you didn’t want to venture out much you didn’t have to. LA is huge so you kind of need a car or access to Uber. I used Uber a lot and it worked great! Very cheap and the drivers were all very friendly.

Places I’d recommend to visit would be:
– Venice Beach for sun and sea
– Melrose Avenue for quirky shops
– Fairfax avenue for urban, streetstyle shops
– Rodeo Drive to dream about your designer wardrobe
– The Grove LA for shopping and good food
