Since leaving my job in June 2016, I have pretty much worked 24/7. So I decided to go on a bit of a digital detox over the Christmas and New Year period. If you’re a full time blogger as well, you will know how hard it is to switch off when you work from home. There’s always something to be done in the blogging world, and if your computer is sitting there and you’ve got some spare time on your hands, well you know…
December ended up being really busy for me as I had two trips away and about 10 projects to create content for. However I didn’t let that stop me, I was so persistent that I wanted the Christmas period off blogging. And I did!
When I got back from LA a few days before Christmas I sat at my desk for hours scheduling in social media posts, blog posts and YouTube videos, so that all I needed to do over Christmas was post on Instagram from my phone. I made sure I had all of my images I needed to post on my phone, edited and ready to go, so it was just a quick process of posting them. I am so glad I managed to get organised as it enabled me to actually relax over Christmas and switch off. Something I hadn’t done in a long, long time. I could enjoy my family and friend’s company without being on my phone, without having to say oh do you mind if I film this or can you photograph me.
I can’t tell you how amazing it was to not check my emails, to not have to sit at my desk. Everyone else was off work, so why couldn’t I be! Having a little digital detox, really got me missing blogging though and I’m rearing to go again. I’m excited about what this year will bring! And knowing me, I won’t be having another break until next Christmas, so the digital detox was well deserved!
