DRUGS ARE COOL

Lifestyle

… If they’re on a t-shirt! I haven’t come across a blogger that’s addressed this issue before, so I thought I’d write a post and have my say. I thought the whole drug scene would die down after it became “trendy” but it still seems that wherever you go at least 75% of people are off their face. It seems like nobody can go out and socialise or enjoy themselves anymore without the addition of a cheeky sniff. I attended lots of festivals last year and they were all dominated by drugs. I don’t mind drugs going on around me if I’m oblivious to it all; but if I have to spend my time constantly turning them down, it gets annoying. I always lose count of the amount of people that approach me at festivals to try and sell me something. Surely it’s dodgy anyway as you don’t really know what you’re buying? I remember one festival I went to last year and it was just so surreal to be surrounded by everyone off their faces. I genuinely thought it was just me and my friend that weren’t on drugs the whole time. When it gets like that it kind of makes you not want to be there anymore.

I’m quite lucky that none of my friends do drugs, so I can go out, enjoy myself and not be surrounded by people pressuring me or having to look after them because they’ve taken too much. I totally get why people take drugs: boosts confidence, takes the edge off; I just hate the fact it dominates every night out, festival and holiday now. This, I feel is putting more and more pressure on people to do them just to fit in.

Some of you might do drugs reading this post, and I’m not telling you what you should do. I’m merely just stating the fact that drugs are everywhere now and I find it a little sad that people can’t go out without taking their pills with them. I know drugs have been around for years, I guess social media and the internet has made it more of a public topic. But it never used to be this bad when I first started going on nights out at 18. Even throughout University, drugs never used to be a topic of conversation.

Some of you might be thinking, well alcohol is a drug and it’s just as bad. And well yes it is. But at least you know what you’re putting into your body.
