THINGS TO DO ON VALENTINE’S DAY

Lifestyle

With the day of love creeping up on us, I thought I’d pull a list together of things to do on Valentine’s Day. Sometime’s it can be difficult planning these special occasions, so I’m hoping my list of ideas will help you.

SPA DAY

If you’re a couple that both have stressful jobs, why not book a relaxing day at the spa together; you could even see if you could get a couples massage. This is a lovely way to de-stress and enjoy quality time together. Groupon and Treatwell have some great Spa packages for locations all over the UK.

A LAST MINUTE TRIP TO PARIS

Now this idea might be a little bit pricey, but it’s a great call if you want to surprise your Valentine! Whisk them away to Paris via the Eurostar or a quick flight from London and you’ll have the best Valentine’s spending it in the city of love. With lots of things to do in Paris such as sightseeing, eating out and even visiting museums, you’ll have a fun-filled trip. Make sure to take them up the Eiffel Tower as they say you should only go up it with the person you’re going to marry! If you think you might opt for this idea, check out my other blog posts on Paris for tips; I’ve even got a hotel review!

DINNER IN LONDON

Dinner in London is always a great idea. With so many restaurant options at every price range you will be sure to find a restaurant that suits both your tastes. A personal favourite of mine for a special occasion such as Valentine’s is Hawksmoor – they do the best steak! It’s a little pricey, I remember spending around £120 for a three course meal for two including alcohol; but it’s definitely worth it!

UP THE SHARD FOR A COCKTAIL

You might be on a first date or looking for somewhere for an after dinner drink; the Shard is a great option for a cocktail! With beautiful views over the city of London and a fabulous cocktail menu, it makes the perfect spot for Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to book either, you just head upstairs to the restaurants and you can take yourself straight to the bar. It’s worth hanging around for a table though if you can!

DESIGNER SHOPPING AT BICESTER VILLAGE

If you’re both into your designer brands and have yet to buy each other a Valentine’s gift, then why not spend the day at Bicester Village! With an array of designer shops all offering huge discounts, you’ll be sure to get the perfect present at a fraction of the price! There’s such a thrill to saving money on designer items! You won’t only find shops at Bicester, they have a lovely range of delicious restaurants, so you’ll be able to grab a bite to eat too; the perfect day out!

WEST END SHOW

You might think that it’s too last minute to book tickets to a West End show – but it’s not! With most shows you can head down to London first thing in the morning when the ticket booths open (there’s a few in Covent Garden and Leicester Square), and you can get affordable tickets with great seats! I would personally love to go and see Matilda and The Lion King – I’ve heard they’re both great!

COOK A MEAL AT HOME

Now this is probably the cheapest idea I’ve got! Dinner for two, at home, cooked together as a couple. Such a cute idea as you can lay the table really pretty, theme it red for Valentine’s Day and cook food that you both enjoy. Maybe you could even do a bit of Come Dine With Me and one of you cooks the starter, another the main and then both chip in on the dessert!

REENACT YOUR FIRST DATE

Do you remember your first date? I do! Robin and I went to the cinema; I can’t remember what film we saw, it was a comedy with a guy in from Nickelodeon as I remember us both trying to figure out what he had been in. The only thing was that our first date was at our local Odeon – not very romantic. So I thought if I was to reenact our first date, maybe I’d look at going to the cinema still but somewhere a little nicer like those boutique ones. But maybe your first date was at a restaurant you could visit again?

LONDON EYE

If you’ve never been up the London Eye before, it’s a definite must see! Plus you don’t have to just go up it if you were looking for something a little more special. The London Eye offer lots of different experiences from Champagne, Chocolate Tasting and Afternoon Tea!

BUY A PUPPY

Now this final idea might be a bit random, but I recently bought a puppy with Robin and it was one of the best things we’ve ever done together. It obviously takes a little planning, but if you’ve already been talking about it, why not take your Valentine to look at some puppies together OR even better, surprise them with one!
