3 NIGHTS IN STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Travel

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen I travelled to Sweden recently with my boyfriend and his family. We kick started our trip with 3 nights in Stockholm so I thought I’d share with you what I got up to.My boyfriend and I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott hotel, which was lovely. If you want to see more about our stay you can read up about it here. We arrived at around 3pm and pretty much checked in, took some snaps of the room and left our luggage before heading out into the heart of the city. It was actually Robin’s birthday so we celebrated with a delicious Indian meal at a beautiful restaurant called Indian Garden. I never eat Indian that much, but it was so tasty! They brought the food out sizzling in these cute pans and there was plenty of food to go around. After our meal Robin and I decided to walk back to our hotel taking in the sights. It was pretty chilly at that point, we couldn’t believe it when we saw the river had frozen over! I had never witnessed anything like it before, it never gets cold enough in the UK for that to happen. It was about 9pm by the time we got back to our hotel and we decided to chill in the reception area, as it had a really cosy decor and fire to keep us warm. After a few drinks we headed up to our room and I ended the night with a relaxing warm bath looking out onto the beaut views.

On our second day in Stockholm, we woke up pretty early to enjoy our hotel’s buffet breakfast – which was amazing if I might add! And we set off for the underground to head to T-Centralen, basically London’s version of Oxford Street. It was only a few stops on the tube which was great! When we arrived we strolled around for a little bit, freezing our butts off, trying to find some cool backdrops to shoot a few snaps for our Instagram accounts. Robin’s family joined us around lunchtime and we spent the afternoon strolling around the shops. A few of us split up and one group headed to the cinema and the rest of us went to see an ice hockey game. I’d never been to an ice hockey game before but had always loved the idea of it as one of my favourite films as a kid was The Mighty Ducks! Did anyone else used to watch that? The game was so much fun, and we even made a bet and won £170!!! So that little bonus made the whole evening ten times better. When we left the game, it was absolutely freezing outside and everyone kept talking about how it was going to snow…

When we woke up on our third day and looked out of our hotel window… Yup! Everything was white! And it looked deep! It had been snowing all night and we had planned to go out in it. Thank god we had skiing bits with us, as otherwise we would have been so unprepared! We took some street style snaps right after breakfast to make sure we had some photos for our socials, and then we got layered up and put our snow boots on. The weather was literally insane, it was so cold, so windy and so snowy! We were mad going out in it. But we did and we headed over to a part of Stockholm we hadn’t been to before: Södermalm. I had discovered it on Instagram whilst searching for shops and restaurants to visit. I found the cutest homeware shop ever called Cocktail and I wanted to buy everything! I was gutted that I couldn’t because obviously we only had our suitcases with us. We ended up stumbling across a cute american diner restaurant whilst exploring, so we had some lunch there. It was really good and I fell in love with the decor. After some food we headed to Gamla Stan the old town and met up with Robin’s family. On our last night in Stockholm we spent the evening dining with some of Robin’s family friends which was lovely! And we got a good nights sleep before the 6 hour drive to our ski resort the next day!

We had a fab 3 nights in Stockholm and if you fancy seeing a few photos keep scrolling down!
