THE BLUE HAIR IS BACK

Fashion

The blue hair is back! Finally… Took me a while! It’s crazy to think I haven’t had blue hair in over 6 months. You were all probably wondering why I did this, so I thought I’d share why in a blog post. If you’ve ever dyed your hair blue before, then you’ll know it’s bloody stubborn. Blue, for some reason is really hard to fade out of blonde hair; green is also the same. The only way to get rid of blue hair is to leave your hair alone for a good few months, shampooing often with something like Head and Shoulders and then once you’ve got your hair to the palest shade it can go, usually some sort of mint green, you will then need to bleach bath your hair. Maybe even actually bleach it. Which obviously nobody wants to be doing as it ruins your hair. There is Olaplex which can help, but if you can get away without bleaching to get rid of the blue, then opt for that.

OH I’VE MISSED YOU BLUE HAIR!

So if you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know my blue hair was my signature look. I often played around with different shades of blues and greens, but it was always within that spectrum of colours. However… earlier this year before summer, I really wanted to try out hair extensions. The process started with me fading my blue locks as much as I could, and then getting my roots bleached. After my roots were bleached, for some reason the bleach made the top part of my hair go really white. I actually ended up with a ‘not on purpose’ blonde to blue ombre hairdo. A few days later I then got blonde hair extensions fitted with nano bonds and I thought instead of dying all of my hair blue again, I’d just dye the ends. I quite liked having the blonde to blue ombre look. I travelled quite a bit during summer which meant I didn’t have time to dye my hair much. So I kept the blonde to blue ombre look for a while. Until Lime Crime announced they were doing hair dye and wanted to collaborate. I then switched things up and dyed the top part of my hair neon peach and kept the ends blue. I literally loved this look so much! I had always wanted to go peach but had never been able to because my hair was always blue before. It was at that point I thought, this is the best time to experiment with different colours; that won’t stain my hair of course. So since then I dyed my hair peach, peach into pink and even yellow! It was so fun changing it up so often, and I was able to do that because colours like peach, pink and yellow don’t stain your hair; they wash out pretty quickly.

However… I kept stumbling upon photos of me with blue hair and missing it so much. I also have plans to be blue for my wedding day as that’s ‘my’ colour, so I thought, you know what. Next time I get my roots bleached, I’ll get the stylist to get my hair back to a nice even blonde and go back blue. And I did just that! Instead of going an all over blue though, I thought I’d mix things up and create a blue hair ombre look using: Clairol Indigo mixed into Crazy Colour Blue Jade and finishing with Crazy Colour Lime Twist on the ends. And voila, what do you think?

Moving forward, I’m going to try and focus on changing up my blue hair as often as I can. I know my hair dye videos are your favourite so I’ll try change the shade of blue or green often to mix things up. Well unless I receive any hair dye collaborations or shoots and they want me to have different hair… We shall see! But for now. The blue hair is back!

Peace
