HELLO FRESH REVIEW | MY THOUGHTS

Lifestyle

Robin signed us up to Hello Fresh a few weeks ago as he was working at the London Boat Show and Hello Fresh were there offering half price. We’d both heard about the food delivery company before so were really keen to try it considering it had a lovely 50% discount. Hello Fresh is basically a website that features 10 different weekly recipes in which you’re able to choose from and all of the ingredients get delivered to your door. The food is as fresh as it can be and each recipe is all bagged up to make cooking simple for you. You also receive step by step instructions for each recipe and all the meals are super easy to create. I’m not the best cook and I’ve found the recipes simple to follow and the results have been delicious.

We tried and tested Hello Fresh for 3 weeks so I thought I’d write a post and share my thoughts in case anyone had any questions about the service. The first two weeks were half price and we opted for the 3 meals a week package. This worked really well for us as we usually eat out at least once a week and one of us is sometimes home alone one or two nights, so we always either eat what we’ve got in the cupboards, order a take out or cook for one. You get your own login for Hello Fresh, I also believe they have an app you can download too, as well as their website. Each week you’re given 10 recipes and you get to look through them and pick your favourites. I have to say the variety of recipes is great, there’s something for everyone from meat dishes to veggie ones.

We scheduled our delivery for a Monday, which again worked well for us. I actually loved not having to go food shopping very often; we only ever needed to grab a few bits over the course of the 3 weeks just so I could make breakfast and lunch. We tried a lovely variety of recipes out during our Hello Fresh subscription: Pulled Chicken Burgers, Sweet Potato Cottage Pie, Spiced Veggie Chilli and so many more!

You’re all probably wondering why we cancelled our package and that was because for £36 a week for 3 meals, we thought it was a little too much. I’m not saying it was ridiculously expensive, but after having it for 3 weeks, we got 9 great recipes from it that we felt we could just go to our local supermarket and purchase the ingredients for slightly cheaper. We were still having to buy breakfast and lunch anyway, and since doing a food shop for a week, we spent £52 and that even included home essentials like loo roll and toothpaste.

I did love Hello Fresh and I do think we will do it again. The great thing about it is that you can deactivate and reactivate your account at any time. So if you wanted to only have it twice a month, you can. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, especially if you’re not really into cooking like me. It actually got me cooking and reading recipes, concentrating and I actually enjoyed it. It took my mind off work and sometimes Robin and I would cook together which was nice. Have any of you ever tried Hello Fresh? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you still subscribed?

Peace
