LOOKING FOR A GREASY HAIR FIX?

Beauty

I suffered with greasy hair for about a month until I found a fix. And it was honestly the worst month. I know it sounds drastic, and there are people going through worse situations than this, but I really wanted to share how I felt. Let me start by saying that I’ve never really had greasy hair before. Yes, I’ve had it when I haven’t washed my hair in like 5 days, but I was experiencing greasy hair straight after washing it, which wasn’t normal. After the first time it happened, I thought maybe I just didn’t wash out all of the conditioner? But then the next time I washed my hair I made sure I really rinsed it and yet again, when dry it was still greasy. I just didn’t know what was wrong.

I felt so self conscious after realising it wasn’t going away. I was really wary about how I’d wear my hair, wondering if people would notice. I even had hair tutorials that I needed to film and was so nervous about uploading to YouTube in case people commented. Luckily no one did, but I think it was because I put SO much dry shampoo in my hair to cover it up, sped up the tutorials and didn’t shoot any close ups.

After a few weeks of my hair feeling greasy, I started having to wear hats. It was the only way to cover it up! I started tweeting about my experience to see if anyone could help me but everyone sort of told me things I’d already tried. I sort of gave up at this point. I liked wearing hats anyway so I just went with it.

“I’d blow dry it after showering and it would still look wet because it was so greasy”

Then my hair got worse. I’d blow dry it after showering and it would still look wet because it was so greasy. I remember the day when I was blow drying my hair and Robin came in and said why does your hair look wet? What the hell is wrong with it. That changed everything; someone had noticed. Before it wasn’t so bad because nobody had noticed or said anything. But when Robin saw how bad my hair was I felt embarrassed. It then made me panic and worry that people might start noticing in my weekly vlogs. Even though I had been sharing my struggle with everyone, I still didn’t want someone to notice or leave a horrible comment.

It was at that point I updated everyone on Twitter and asked one more time for help. That’s when people had mentioned about a Boots product build up shampoo. I had never ever heard of product build up before, I didn’t even know that could happen. I thought once you washed your hair, whatever was in it would be washed out and that was that. So Robin and I went into town to see if we could find this shampoo. But unfortunately it didn’t exist anymore. We spent about half an hour searching in Boots looking at all the shampoos in there, reading the fronts of every bottle. I tried googling whilst I was in the store and still no luck… Until… Robin spotted a L’Oreal shampoo, and it was going to be my saviour! The Elvive Extraordinary Clay – Rebalancing Shampoo; it focuses on getting rid of the oil that has built up on your scalp.

“I had never ever heard of product build up before”

I purchased that shampoo along with the T-Gel shampoo for greasy hair and a leave in conditioner from Toni & Guy. Someone had mentioned on Twitter that it’s better to use a leave in conditioner and apply on the ends of your hair than to your scalp as this can add to the oils. Anyway, I went home straight away and jumped back in the shower to see if these products would work. And all I can say is THANK YOU to everyone for your advice and WOO to getting my hair back to normal. It only took one hair wash and my hair was back! I’m not saying this will work for everyone who has greasy hair, but it might be worth a try. I’ve continued using all of these products since and my hair is still fine.

If you try this out I’d love to know if it worked for you as well? I hope this helps someone else who might be going through the same struggles.

Peace
