FINDING WEDDING PROPS & DECOR

Lifestyle

Finding wedding props and decor has been the last hurdle I’ve faced whilst wedding planning. With less than 4 weeks until the big day – I can’t believe I’m even writing that! Wow it’s gone quick – it’s time to start thinking about how I’m actually going to decorate the wedding venue. I’ve been pinning so much that I’ve ended up with a tonne of ideas, but I’ve had to whittle it down and think realistically. I’ve only got one day to decorate and get the venue wedding ready and I don’t want to put myself under too much pressure by involving lots of elements. I mean, I do have a lot of elements to the venue, but I think it’s realistic and I think with help from family and friends they will be able to bring my ideas to life.

SOURCING PROPS & DECOR

There’s tonnes of suppliers out there who hire out wedding props. From furniture right down to candlesticks, you will certainly find someone that will be able to lend you wedding props for a price. When budgeting for the wedding, I included a budget for props and decor, as for me, this is what makes the venue. I’ve got a huge space to fill and my aim is to make it look full on the day. After I collected a variety of images on Pinterest, I drew out a layout of my venue and started jotting ideas down of what props I think I might need and where they’d logistically go. Once I’d finalised my ideas, it was then time to get onto google and go on the search for prop hire suppliers within the Essex area. It’s best to look within the area you’re getting married in as you will have to handle the delivery costs for the props, and the further away the company is, obviously the more money spent on delivery.

I found some amazing suppliers within the Essex area which I will list below, and a lot of them have such a vast amount of props to loan out, you can try and keep it to a few suppliers rather than having one item delivered from one person, and a few with another etc. It will just make it a lot easier on the lead up to the big day dealing with less suppliers.

WEDDING PROP SUPPLIERS

Anthology Vintage – vintage furniture hire: tables, chairs and props – Essex
Vintage Style Hire – vintage furniture and prop hire – Essex
Rock The Day Styling – boho modern props, small decor, games – Essex
Classic Crockery – crockery, glassware to small decor – London

Once you’ve got your suppliers sorted, it doesn’t stop there. You won’t be able to find everything you need from them or it might start getting a little costly so I would definitely research other ways of incorporating decor within your wedding whilst sticking to your budget. One way I’ve found is Ikea! Ikea offer cheap, bulk items from vases and lanterns to rugs and cushions and the great thing is if you fancy doing a bit of DIY you can transform the items so it matches your wedding theme. I purchased a lot of small decor items from Ikea, ordered some spray paint from Fat Buddha Store and sprayed everything gold. The spray paint worked so well on everything from glass to wood and really made the items look expensive and matched my wedding theme perfectly. I think I’m going to write a separate post on my Ikea hacks as I know anyone on a wedding budget will probably be quite interested in them.

The props and decor part of my wedding day is still ongoing. I’m not quite finished with my DIY jobs yet, I’ve got more spray painting to do, a doughnut wall to make and eight chandeliers to put together. I know, I’ve given myself just a few tasks to get done! If you have time to do DIY before your wedding it definitely saves and I think it’s also going to be a nice feeling looking at my venue and thinking that hard work and creativity has gone into the decor.

Well wish me luck for the last few weeks before the wedding! Still so much to do, but it is starting to get rather exciting now seeing everything come together! Eeeeek!

Peace
