THE BRIDESMAIDS & FLOWER GIRLS

Fashion

Dressing my Bridesmaids and Flower Girls for my wedding was actually easier than I thought it was going to be. I mean I did have a few hurdles along the way, but I managed to overcome them and my bridal party looked beautiful on the big day. I’m so glad everyone felt comfortable with their outfits and how I dressed them, so I thought I would share every detail with you.

BRIDESMAIDS

Rewinding right back to the start, after I had decided on the colour of my dress, I started to think about my bridal party and what colours I’d like them to wear. The most obvious choice was a baby blue and to be honest, it worked perfectly into our theme so I went with it. Now this was my first hurdle; trying to find baby blue Bridesmaid dresses was slightly difficult. I started off my search looking at your typical style of dress most Bridesmaids wear but couldn’t really find a nice baby blue. Then I started to search on the high street and spent weeks doing so. I just couldn’t really find anything, and I wasn’t actually sure on what I was looking for.

I left my search for a while and came back to it with a fresh mind a month or so later and found myself on ASOS. This was when I discovered Jarlo London; timeless occasion wear. They had a few designs in baby blue and I actually found two I liked, so I ordered them. I got my Bridesmaids around mine to try on both styles and thank god they all said they preferred one of them: Valentina. I couldn’t believe how easy it was once I’d found some designs I liked. I had heard horror stories about Bridesmaids ganging up on the Bride, complaining about what they were to wear. But for me, the girls all agreed on the dress so I didn’t question it!

The Valentina dress features a fishtail train, which I thought would look beautiful in the church, a figure hugging design which was really flattering and then a bandeau style top. One thing the girls mentioned about the top of the dress was that they felt maybe it was too much chest on show for the church, so we decided to play around with the design. Luckily one of my Bridesmaids is a seamstress so she mentioned about just lifting the bandeau strap a little higher and it worked really well. She did all the alterations too which was super helpful.

So that was the dress sorted for the girls, then it was onto accessories. I found some nice block heel sandals in nude from Boohoo; I wanted to keep the shoes plain for them and as comfortable as possible. When looking at jewellery, I had to decide on their hair first, which after a little bit of Pinterest, I opted for the Bridesmaids to have their hair in a side bun. Having an updo meant their neckline was on show, which looked really flattering. Because of their clean neckline, we thought dangly earrings over a necklace, so I popped to my nearest Claire’s store and grabbed some nice diamonte ones.

Their bouquet and succulent crowns, created by The Flower Arranger, really finished off their whole outfit. The pastel flowers and green succulents paired with their baby blue dress, really tied it altogether. I was so pleased with how they looked, and I think they were too.

FLOWER GIRLS

I had two flower girls at the wedding, both Robin’s cousin’s children and they were so adorable. My now sister in law, Miranda launched her own children’s occasion wear brand last year, so I looked to her for getting their dresses. Her brand is called Monday’s Child London and there were some fabulous ones to pick from. Although I just couldn’t decide. It wasn’t until she had brought out her new collection that I fell in love with a dress. The one on her website is actually in lilac, but I could picture it in white straight away. I had originally thought the flower girls would be in blue like the Bridesmaids but then when I tried to picture it all in my head, I thought maybe its too much blue.

The dress I adored the is the MARGUERITE CEREMONY DRESS and it featured pretty pastel flowers on the top, scattering down into the skirt. I loved how the pastel flowers matched with our theme and I could imagine them on the day wearing it. To accessorise the dress, I purchased some sweet white satin ballet pumps from Next, along with white frill socks from Primark. They too had a succulent flower crown and an ivy tail balloon from Bubblegum Balloons.

And they were my Bridesmaids and Flower Girls. Didn’t they look absolutely stunning?!
