My sister in laws Cricut maker helped me out so much when wedding planning. I used it for a few of my DIY's and I loved the professional look it gave. If you haven't heard of a Cricut maker it's basically a machine that makes DIYs easier. It cuts card, paper, fabric and even draws! It can do a lot of things, so if you're interested in finding out more you should definitely watch this video here about it.
CRICUT ADHESIVE FOILS
The first way I used the Cricut maker was to cut out stickers to put wording on a glass box which would be my cards and gift box, and also white wooden hangers for me and my bridal party. I used a nice gold adhesive foil for the cards and gift box and found a cute font on dafont.com. When it comes to creating the font and design you want, you use the Cricut Design Space which is a software you download and link up to your Cricut maker. You essentially create the design and tell your maker what to print and what material is going into the machine.
You might have seen my Ikea Hacks blog post where I showed you how to DIY the glass greenhouse. I spray painted it gold and wanted the wording on the front of the box to match. I was going to have 'Cards & Gifts' on the front, but then thought it would be cuter to have our names and the date of the wedding. I used the Cricut maker to cut the letters out and I applied this to the front of the greenhouse. Super easy and it looked great!
When it came to hangers for my bridal party, I had seen lots of Esty which I was tempted to purchase. However I thought it would be much easier and cheaper doing it myself once realising my sister in law had a Cricut maker. I found a few designs online that I liked and popped to my local Dunelm to purchased white wooden hangers. Because the hook of the hanger was silver, I went for silver adhesive foil.
For the wording on the hanger I decided to have our names, date of the wedding and the role of the day. Again, super easy to create and they looked really professional. I was so pleased that they actually looked like the ones on Etsy!
CRICUT CARD CUTTING
I created the table numbers with the font on the Cricut Design Space again, but this time the machine was cutting card instead of the adhesive foil. Once I had cut out all of the numbers, I then used some spray mount to stick the gold glitter side of the number to the metallic side. Then I popped in a dowel rod and left to dry overnight. On the wedding set up day was when I poked the dowel into the pineapples and my table numbers looked so good! I was super pleased!
