Palm Springs – what a week! A week dedicated to chilling. We’d seen and done so much stuff in the first week of our adventure we had to squeeze in some pool and tanning time.
We stayed in a rental home down a quiet street that had a backdrop of the Palm Springs valley – what a view. The house was amazing, so modern and chic and we had our own pool and hot tub. Sometimes it’s nice not to share.
We spent most of the days chilling by the pool – or should I say in the pool because again it was ridiculously hot. On a few of the evenings we had our own BBQ with burgers and hot dogs we’d bought from Walmart and on the others we ventured out in to the town to dine.
Palm Springs was such a nice place. Completely different to LA and Vegas. One, there was no traffic and two it was peaceful. It seemed like the place where most people would retire to or raise a family. I just loved being in the middle of a valley and having an astonishing view surrounding you every second of the day.
Every Thursday in the town, they hold a market with people selling food, drink, toiletries, art and clothing. We headed down to see what it was all about and it was lovely. You could tell that there was a nice community here. That evening we ate at Ruby’s Diner – delicious.
Another evening we went to the outlet shopping mall close by and because it was the 4th July week there were so many discounts! I might have made one or two purchases… We also went bowling too which is always a laugh. Not when you’ve got long pointy acrylic nails though. I’ll remember next time to not play if I’ve got those! Very painful!
Something exciting also happened in Palm Springs! Valley High an LA based clothing brand asked to do a shoot with me and they drove all the way out to Palm Springs to do it! More on this coming soon…
To end the week we celebrated 4th July with the Americans at a small Palm Springs baseball game. We got VIP tickets which meant unlimited hot dogs and popcorn all night and we watched the game. The evening and our week ended with a bang – fireworks. I was a bit sceptical of the fireworks because we’d just been to Disney and seen their amazing display! But I should have just waited until I made my opinion, because the baseball fireworks were also magical! They went on for about 20 minutes and there were some really cool ones in there. They were actually really really good and I’d go watch them again. During the display, music with America referenced in the songs was played. It was weird. For a split second I felt proud to be an American. I know I’m not, but I just got it. I understood. And I can say that I envy Americans for their community and country and everyone sticking together as I feel that that’s something we lack here in the UK.
So that was it. That meant the end of Palm Springs and the end of my California Adventure :(. As you can imagine. I’ve got the WORST holiday blues ever!
