A few months ago you might have spotted some mermaid T Shirt designs on my Instagram! Well that’s because online fashion retailer, Brand Attic, invited me up to their HQ in Manchester to design my own. I headed up to Manchester along with a few other bloggers and we spent the day at Brand Attic’s offices with their design team on hand. We were given a white t shirt template and told to be as creative or as simple as we wanted to be. It was so exciting to be given free reign to design what we wanted.
Obviously I just had to opt for mermaid design! One because you all know I’m a wannabe mermaid, and two, because I thought you lot would love it. I headed onto Pinterest and Google images for inspiration on what sort of other mermaid t shirts were out there. I didn’t want to copy what was already out there so I tried to keep my first design a little different. I combined the word mermaid with shell and a tail, and it looked pretty cool! For my next design I kept it simple and yes, very similar to designs already out there but I hadn’t come across any t shirts that featured a turquoise shell; there was a lot of baby blues and pastel pinks out there.
Once I had finished my designs, I sat with one of the Brand Attic design team and they drew my template on Adobe Illustrator right in front of me; it was really cool seeing it come to life! Once our designs were drawn up and saved, we just had to wait a few weeks to see the final designs and colours that were emailed over to us for a final go ahead. We were getting our t shirts made to be sold on Brand Attics site! How amazing is that! I had always wanted to design something and sell it and Brand Attic were giving me that chance.
Last week I finally got my hands on both of my mermaid t shirt designs and I fell in love instantly! I was so so pleased with the outcome! Both designs have been printed on a plain t shirt and so it leaves the buyer to be able to style it up however they want. If they want to tie dye it, cut it into a crop top, they can!
