Fall has arrived and it’s time for one of my favourite AW trends: layering. I love to get cosy when the colder weather arrives and layering is one way to keep warm. It also means you can up cycle your best summer garments to make them wearable for fall and dress down evening looks to make them wearable for the day.
This silky bandana print number is more of a dress for the evening. However with a bit of simple layering, I’ve managed to create a wearable and warm day look.
Investing in basic long sleeve tops for your wardrobe is a key tip for layering. With hundreds of different designs on the high street you can start creating a collection of basic tops which all have something unique. Take this black long sleeve top I’m wearing here; the sleeves are fluted. I’d definitely recommend purchasing a couple of different designs such as tops that feature a: high neck, collar, cuffs etc. This way you can mix and match throughout fall.
When it comes to layering, wearing long sleeve tops under dresses is one of my favourite combinations. It means you can still wear that short sleeve dress you loved in summer into winter.
Here’s a little selection of key basic tops to get you started with fall layering for 2016:
