Tie Dye Crazy
Recently I have decided to build up a collection of customised clothing and accessories with the intent to sell. I already customise sunglasses – photos coming soon – and thought another thing I could create could be tie dye clothing. It is very popular this current SS13 especially with Topman for example having a trend called ‘Surficidic’.
I googled how to tie dye as I was new to it. I found a great website with a quick technique of using the microwave. I bought some Dylon dye in pink, blue and purple and some crop tops, t shirts, socks and a pair of shorts.
Process:
1. Mix 60 ml of warm water with 1 teaspoon of dye
2. Dampen garment with warm water
3. Apply elastic bands – to create cool patterns
4. Squirt dye over garment – squeeze any excess out
5. Place in a microwaveable container
6. Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds
7. Run garment under cold water and rinse any excess dye out
8. Rinse in warm soapy water
9. Hang out to dry – keep away from sun
