STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Hello, and how is everyone on this fine sunny day? Typical opening line, but the weather is actually very lovely outside!
Apologies for not posting in a while, I have been away! I went for a mini weekend break to Stockholm, Sweden; and it was absolutely delightful. My boyfriend’s mum is Swedish and he has family out there so we went to visit. I had never been before so was not sure what to expect, but I found it such a welcoming place. We were very lucky with the weather, it was on the chilly side, however when we were sightseeing the sun was out all day.
Sweden is such a contrast to London life. The atmosphere is much quieter in the city, there are hardly any sirens and just in general the Swedes are quite quiet and content people. You walk in to a shop and there is hardly any noise, and the staff are so welcoming by politely saying ‘hej hej’ which means hello. The city reminded me a little of Malta. I don’t know if any of you have been before, but Malta has little cobbled streets with little boutique shops down them and the buildings are more european style rather than modern and very tall. Some of the main part of town had a London feel to it, especially the modern department stores.
Heading out into the countryside however, I thought it was very strange that a lot of the houses actually had an american influence. They were all different colours like pastel pink, blue or yellow and were like modern shed like which wooden slates. It just had an american suburban feel. I was not expecting that at all, and at times it did feel like you were in America, which if you like America, can be nice!
I had such a lovely time though and wanted to share my photos with you, I hope you enjoy! If your ever over in Stockholm you have to get a hot dog and the Princess cake!
