Your all probably going to be jealous, but don’t be! So after being given the opportunity to go to Ibiza with work, I was then given the opportunity to go to Barcelona!! I had never been before so was very excited, and even more so when I got told I was staying in the W HOTEL! Yup, that amazing hotel right on the beach and the end of the bay, the really big glass one. A very lucky girl I was. I was going with work though so don’t forget that! It wasn’t a mini holiday in the sun.
The reason for the work trip was because we, Flossy Style, were going to present our new and exclusive SS15 campaign along with products, sales, marketing etc to distributors around the world. Because I handle the social media channels I had to present a small section of the presentation by myself… In front of about 40 people!! It was nerve-racking but I did it, and everyone said I did well, so I guess I did?! I hate it when you present because I am constantly judging myself whilst talking and then that makes me stutter and lose my place. I had a script on me the whole time luckily, and when I kept looking up I tried not to specifically look at one person. It’s great your eyes can do that and adjust so that your looking at everyone as a whole. I would have been put off even more if I had made eye contact with someone in the room.
We all flew from Heathrow Airport very early in the morning so I grabbed myself a cheeky Starbucks before boarding the flight. The plane only took just under 2 hours, which was great as I HATE flying, I’m such a pussy when it comes to aeroplanes. I wish I wasn’t but I am. Anyway we landed safely in Barcelona and had a quick taxi ride to the hotel via the streets of the city. It was absolutely lovely to see the culture and have a mini tour. When we arrived at our hotel I was overwhelmed at how nice it was! I remember saying when I left the Ibiza villa that I won’t ever stay somewhere as nice again. I was wrong. This hotel was fab! It was so modern and had a cool, quirky interior with unique furnishings. A fave of mine were definitely the lights around the hotel – they were white and some made of feathers and other interesting objects. Unfortunately we weren’t able to check into our hotel rooms or check out the conference room so I HAD to go and sunbathe by the pool – what a bummer eh! After a few cheeky hours enjoying the sun, we checked into our rooms – which were SO cool! I had the whole room to myself, it had 2 double beds, a tv, sound system, free wifi and a MINI BAR! God, the mini bar was so good, stocked up with naughty treats and alcohol. I knew if I was to ever get drunk I would raid it… Which I did 1 night… Not good when you have to then pay for it at the end! Once we had settled in our rooms we practiced our presentation in preparation for the next 2 days.
On the first night we met up with all the distributors and had drinks and food by the pool. It was lovely to meet such an array of people from all over the world. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, it was such a lovely atmosphere. Of course eventually everyone got slightly wasted and we did make our way up to the 26th floor where the hotel had it’s own club. And what a blast that was!
The next day… God I don’t even want to talk about how I felt in the morning. Absolutely hideous. I had about 4 hours sleep, and was very very hungover – not good when I had a full day of presenting our SS15 campaign to all of the distributors. Even thinking about it now I don’t actually know how I made it through that day! I made sure I drank lots of water and ate a filling breakfast. I felt horrendous during the presentation, and it didn’t help I had the butterfly’s either. I was so glad to get my section out the way before lunch because then I had time to chill.
The whole day went really well and everyone was loving what we had to show and tell. Bring on day 2.
On the 2nd evening we had a massive meal with everyone from the day at the hotel. It was lovely mixing with everyone again. But god the food, I was so stuffed after dinner! It was a tapas style starter – that filled me up before I got onto my steak and dessert! I unfortunately couldn’t touch any alcohol that evening which was probably a good thing!
On the last day we had a forecasting session in the morning for everyone and finished early. My flight wasn’t until 7.30pm that evening so we were allowed to head out the hotel. I didn’t make it far, only to the beach. But hey ho, I enjoyed soaking up a few hours of the sun.
Overall, even though I never really got to see Barcelona apart from an amazing view of it from the W, I had an amazing time. I love work trips, everyone comes out of their shells!
Definitely looking forward to the next one. And keep an eye out for Flossy Style – were gonna be BIG next year. Your gonna see us all over the world.
Peace x
