I have recently realised I’m a big fan of the SS14 monochrome trend. I didn’t realise how much I was attracted to black and white garments and how many I already had in my wardrobe! So when Fashion Union kindly asked me to pick a few of my favourite pieces from their website I kept finding myself mesmerised by the monochrome prints – I just couldn’t help it! And as soon as I saw this palm print blazer I knew I had to have it, so I made sure I put it as my number 1 fave piece.
The palm print is a huge trend this summer with lots of fashion brands working it into their SS14 designs. And not only in monochrome shades, you can find realistic palm prints to the more cartoony. It’s part of the tropical trend that is dominating our summer. I just love it though! If you can’t manage to get away this summer, then just wack on a tropical palm print dress and you’ll feel like your in the Caribbean! Well I guess only if the suns out! Styling up the monochrome blazer, I kept within the black and white theme and opted for a black mesh crop, lycra high-waist leggings and cleated sandals. I kept the main outfit black so that the blazer stood out, and the white sandals tied in nicely. With my accessories I put on my 90s choker and then to jazz it up a bit more also put a silver chain collar necklace on. Combining multiple necklaces has become a trend in itself this summer and definitely originated from the midi ring trend. It was all about overloading your fingers with jewels and this time it’s overloading your neck. I love it because I love over-accessorising. I hate forgetting to put earrings or a necklace on with an outfit that needs it; it makes me feel naked.
