GONE GIRL – Favourite Film of 2014
There was a lot of hype about this film before it came out so I obviously had to go and see it. I had actually started reading the book on my early morning commute to work but I ended up falling asleep most the time and because I cheekily stole it from my friend whom I lived with at the time she wanted it back when I moved out.
I much prefer watching a film though – I’m definitely a film geek when it comes to anything Thriller/Mystery/Drama related. Even though at times I might get scared, these types of films really entice you into the story line and get you thinking. Now this films story line was amazing. From watching the trailer it seemed obvious what ‘could’ have happened but you were not expecting it at all! You think ‘Amy’ has disappeared and something has happened to her but actually she has concocted the whole drama herself. A very, very clever film and storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘OMG/WHAT’ moment when you realise she has set her husband Nick up. And with the ending – well I’m hoping there’s a sequel…
If you haven’t yet seen this film, then it’s a definite must. I guarantee people have spoken about it around you before – so go and see what it’s all about.
ELEVEN HOURS – Favourite Book of 2014
An international Bestseller – Eleven Hours written by Paullina Simons is yet another Thriller/Drama – I told you I’m a sucker for them. I don’t tend to read as much, but when I do find a book that has a Crime related theme to it, I get sucked in and can’t put it down – which is definitely what you should be like with books. The story here is of a heavily pregnant woman, very near to birth pops out on a shopping trip before meeting her husband for lunch. However when lunch time arrives she’s not anywhere to be seen, as she has been abducted. This book takes you through the woman’s eleven hours of desperateness and her husbands journey on trying to find her. It’s a great read, it really is. It entices you in and you get to know all the characters really well. At times your on the edge of you seat thinking the worse – I don’t want to give too much away as I would definitely recommend it. If you like suspense then you’ll love this novel. I definitely cannot wait to find more Thriller related books to feast my eyes on in 2015.
Peace
