I miss my pastel hair so much! Last summer I had it mint green, lilac and pink!! I loved it! It was so much fun having coloured hair, you did grab people’s attention which was sometimes annoying but it made a great conversation starter.
I have already planned on doing mine again… Going back to mint green, that was my favourite, it was easy to keep up and that was the only colour that really took to the whole of my hair. The lilac was the hardest to dye my whole hair, for some reason it just took to certain sections more than others so it never really was a whole block colour. It still did look cool though.
Also this time I am going to try Stargazer instead of Directions semi permanent dye, only because Stargazer is ammonia free. Over summer last year the up keep of pastel hair is easy but risky. Because it is semi permanent dye the colour fades instantly as soon as you wash it. So to keep the colour over a long period of time, I added in a bit of the dye to my conditioner every time I washed my hair. This did eventually and unfortunately make my hair fall out from about mid length down. There were other factors involved but the ammonia in the semi permanent dye killed the most bleached parts of my hair. It was awful and very upsetting and I did have to get the chop. Luckily my hair grows really quick so its at a good length again now! Just make sure you get an ammonia free one.
At the moment I can’t dye my hair mint green because of my event staff job I have on the side, so I am waiting for a more permanent job before I do it.
I have gathered some imagery for inspiration of pastel hair from editorials and Instagram. Another thing I would love to do to my hair is to get my nape shaved. Some people have such cool patterns shaved in to them as well! It looks sick. However I am still debating whether I am brave enough yet.
